115 Bold and Beautiful Swimmers today!
Pretty good considering it’s getting colder…..
And just to remind you all, swimming in the cold water IS GOOD for you! I found 2 articles online on benefits of cold water swimming … and bear in mind they are really talking about swimming in water that is under 12 degrees not the tropical temps we swim in! Also the benefits are sort of lost if you wear a wetsuit!! 🙂

Seeing as their owners are getting some cold water swimming benefits these doggies have to resort to coffee to pep them up 😀
As from tomorrow (we are told) the Surf Club will be boarded up! So… as of tomorrow – we will congregate here.. between the 2 lamp posts – John is demonstrating and I put a red line so hopefully noone will miss it! You can also leave your stuff on the beach / near the wall?
A record 33 early swimmers coming back!
Psyching themselves up to go in….
Anne back from the early swim – wearing 2 wetsuits she didn’t know what we were worried about!
I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw this beauty in my collection! haha …Sorry Iain it had to be done!
It’s still magical waiting at the Point – not too cold yet…
Celeb Let’s Goer at Shelly – guess who??
AND I THINK this is the first sighting of a cuttle fish for the season??? I wonder what those bright lights are on it’s back??
A friendly dusky….
There were SOOOO many yellowtails today and they came right up close to me…
Saw this fella too – porcupine fish!
There were lots of some amazing Kingfish – I saw one up really close, they are beautiful…
LOTS OF BABIES!
I wonder who gave birth to this lot!!!!!
But we do know who gave birth to this sweet baby called Stephanie! Lindsay Glover (and hubby Richard!) – who is back swimming already!! Stephanie with her special BnB bib which she looks pretty pleased about and cannot wait to dribble on! I see she has her mum’s nose! 😀
Last night’s BnB Bluewater dinner ..I wasn’t there but it sounds like it was good fun with some new things on the menu! Thanks again to all the staff there and especially this morning as they were short staffed and had to put up with us coming in all at once! THANKS BLUEWATER!!

Can everyone bring back any caps they no longer use – no matter what condition they are in – torn or otherwise! We will recycle the better ones and give the torn ones to Vicki H, (who buys the caps for us). THANK YOU!!

On June 1 it’s the start of not only Winter… but the Winter Badges! It is a Saturday and so to ‘celebrate’ we want everyone to come down wearing a Onesie / Jumpsuit. The funnier the better!
And for those guys who feel ‘less of a man’ wearing one, may I suggest a more masculine version like below? (jumpsuits ARE worn in the army – let me just say!)

ha ha, brilliant blogging as always Lesbutt.
What aer all you wetsuit wearing folks going to do when it gets COLD??? wear two?
Looks like the onesie will come in handy. For under the wettie.
Man up, go the yak fat like Le Sterch and Brenton do. You won’t see them in two wetsuits.

From sunny Hobart (Water temp. 14 degrees, you wimps).
Sandy’s friend was bitten by something sharky up the North coast. I showed the pic to Mark at the OzMus and he got the shark expert at Taronga, John West (yes, really!) to have a look. He says:
“The circumstances are similar to other Wobby bites and the teeth marks are also similar to other Wobby injuries (bruise and small teeth marks).
Without more info my initial guess is a wobbegong. They are renowned for biting people that inadvertently get too close to them when wading in shallow water”.
And Mark put me onto this link: http://www.australianmuseum.net.au/Wobbegong-Shark-bites-Australian-Museum-Cashier.
So maybe we should all avoid getting too close to Wobbies (are you listening Gaetan, Michel and Mauricio?)
Sandy, would you post your horrific photo on the Blog, with an MA warning?

I heard George Clooney was at dinner last night.
Is he the one in disco-eyes next to Fifi?
Good looking bloke either way!

This week I donned my Zoot wetsuit for its fifth season. It stops my fingers and toes from going numb.
As BnB is an “inclusive” club I want to encourage everyone to keep swimming no matter what you feel you need to wear.
Even if you want to drive/ wear your Lloyd Bridges Sea Hunt underwater jet scooter come on down…..you will be welcomed in any attire.

Yes he was rather handsome, wasn’t he?
He did have a curious aroma emanating from him, the likes of which I haven’t smelled since last I was in Tibet.

Thanks Lesbutt: I always love a blog with a dog photo or two! Heart-warming (if not body warming).
Talking of body-warming: I am going to study those two articles on the benefits of cold water swimming, but can’t guarantee they will convince me to go WWW. Brrrr

Those articles are excellent Lesbutt, particularly good paragraph:
“In addition to enhancing libido in both sexes, these hormones also play an important role in fertility. In fact, one technique recommended for men looking to fatherhood is to bathe their testicles in cold water every day. Whatever your procreative desires, a dip of a different sort certainly could add an edge to your sex life.”
I think I might steal this theme for Monday blog.

Awww seriously simon! Nowhere do i say swimmers not welcome without wetsuits!!!… i am saying feeling cold whilst swimming will not harm you. And numb extremities is not bad either…it’s all part of your body’s adjustment…And i feel it probably more than anyone.
Booyaaaa!!

Great blog Lesbutt and thanks again for Stephanie’s v cute bib. She’ll wear it and dribble with pride at being one of the newest B and B members!
Interesting articles too – I may be inspired to ditch the wetsuit as it was somewhat premature to bring it out of hibernation so soon this autumn I think…

Loved meeting Stephanie this morning in her bib!
As for whether you ditch your wetsuit, perhaps you and Richard should read Rob’s comments above from the article and consider whether you’re ready for more babies already:-)
