08/02/2015 now you see me, now you don’t

08/02/201516

This week I managed to get further than the shoreline (bad, naughty waves last Sunday cut my swim very short)

Let me introduce you to our narrator today. Meet Cyril, the sea slug, or you might know him as a nudibranch.

I found Cyril travelling over the ocean floor at Cabbage Tree Bay a couple of weeks ago. Nudibranch have to be one of my faves of the undawata world.

They can be very flamboyant. Just like some members of the B&B.

A whopping 24 degrees!

…..and stretch!

The early swimmers reported blue bottles and these purple stingy things!

Decisions were made if to go left or right.

Reports of stings didn’t deter the swimmers!

The swim was warm and lovely and we coped as we do.

Cyril you can take over from here.

Here’s some photos Snorkles took on a dive on Australia Day.

let’s start big and the Wobbygong’s. Cheekily hiding under rock ledges. This is how you might find a Wobby .

A little more investigation and here’s the end with the teeth!

This second one, was so big I couldn’t quite get it all in,

…in the one frame!
Cyril: keep an eye out for different coloured Wobby’s, this one slightly tawny in colour (and again it’s head took some finding!)

Wobby’s done, hanging out near the Old Wives ‘cave’, is the …….

cuttlefish!

Cheeky Grouper’s show off in front of a camera lense
Hiding under the ledges was the catfish ball too.

Zoom in on this girl (I think the lighter coloured Groupers are females) and check out the teeth!

Can you spot the fish?

Cheeky Fiddler Rays were hiding all over the floor.

Spot the eyes.

Rays were at it too.

Drinky’s birthday was celebrated today with a cake!

Happy belated birthday.

Oh
and Lucy is still sporting her bump (9 days over now!)

Happy Sunday everyone.

B&B and REDFEB Heart Research 2015

REDFEB is Heart Research Australia‘s signature fundraising campaign, raising funds for research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. They approach sporting groups across Australia, and ask them to log kilometres travelled onto a virtual map. This year they have several Aussie maps: for cyclists, joggers, swimmers etc – with the mileage circumnavigating the land mass.

B&B will again be assisting this cause in 2015 by participating in the virtual REDFEB Relay and helping to lap the map of Australia! Last year in February our Bolds swam over 8,700 km and raised $2,200. Our aim this year will be to beat that figure. After last February’s 8700 km and $2200, our aim this year will be to raise over $3,000. To view our B&B team page CLICK HERE You can donate funds on the team page, or even better, you can create your own page where all your friends can donate towards the cause. To create your own page and join the B&B team, just go to the team page and simply click “join”. You will then be taken through the steps to create your own page. On your own page you can input your kilometres and also raise funds. All funds raised on individual pages will accumulate to the B&B team total. Ian Forster has already raised $500, and the month is only three days old. Thank goodness I’m not sponsoring Brendan Maher!

To highlight the fundraising, B&B will be going RED on Valentine’s Day – Saturday 14th February when we will be swapping our pink caps for RED ones. This year, the Manly Beach Health Club has joined us and is sponsoring the red caps. To help with your heart health, Manly Beach Health Club is also offering B&B members a free 30 min Personal Training session. To find out how to take advantage of this offer, go to

How did you manage to get these brilliant fish photos, Snorkles? And did Ted pay bribe you for getting onto the sign off photo with you?
