08/01/2014 – The only sport you don’t smell bad after! :-)

08/01/201420

YES swimming is the only sport you smell BETTER afterwards!! 🙂

I got this idea on Sunday whilst waiting in line for a hot drink at Manly Wine and just in front of me was a cyclist who had clearly just been on a huge cycle and I had to hold my breath whilst next to him – he hummed! And then I thought “I bet I don’t stink’! 😉

Anyway….

It’s been a busy week here at BnB! Lots of new people, a  dolphin and great conditions!

Not so busy for the swimmers themselves but busy for the Bold and Beautiful Volunteers!

So if you are bringing NEW swimmers down to join us please have

them turnup for ‘signing in’ at least 20 minutes before hand.

Below – it doesn’t get any better than this!

 Great for a ‘Bolderdash’

The ‘Bolderdash’ is BnB’s swim to Queenscliff and back everyday through summer.

You can clock up more SWIM MILEAGE on the Bold and Beautiful’s Pacific Challenge

http://www.faulconbridgesoftware.com/bb/pub/bbpacific.htm as this swim is 3km’s.

The link to the Pacific Challenge is top left of the blog…have a look where you are on it!  Capture-20140108-092200

You can also clock up more mileage on the longer Saturday Swims…

Summer badge swims

Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim

– this is to South Curl Curl and back.  However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea

to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader.  Both swims kick off at 7am.

The next 10km swim is scheduled for this saturday 11 January depending on conditions.

Back to today’s swim… after the rain, the clouds still hung around but that didn’t stop us swimming!

We swim EVERYDAY rain, hail, massive waves or shine!

The air although cold the sea was not! (well not for me that is!)

Viz not as good as it has been….

Arriving back safely!

Well done to Teagan who was ‘biggest mover’ in last 7 days!

That’s it from me – sorry it’s definitely the most boring blog of the year but I have to work! 🙂

But you get the picture….it’s not the blog we come for it’s the swim so see you all tomorrow!

I think some people have been clocking up some fantasy miles recently…amazing what that pacific challenge does to people!
my last swim tomorrow before I head to the polar vortex. Hopefully Ill get to do another 10km in Feb but I have my friend Edith Hurt standing in for me in the meantime. She will be doing drinks Express, but she usually gets places on time.

Not only do swimmers smell good
They are probably taller and have better posture
Given that swimmers, while swimming are affected by gravity in a horizontal position, and they are constantly stretching for more length and a longer body, we are are probably taller, have a little more core strength and probably have developed a better natural posture.
This is why there are no mirrors in the mens public change rooms, to try an even out the global distribution of vanity.

    10k swim this Saturday – 7am
The usual route to South Curl Curl and return may change depending on conditions. It may also be run in the harbour if the ocean is unfavourable.
It is advisable to have completed a 6k swim or more in preparation.
Meet at the surfclub in plenty of time to get info.

Hmmm….. I don’t agree with “the only sport you don’t smell after”. The last few swims I have done, I found my costume stained brown with something smelling very fish oil like. Most unpleasant…..soaking costume in detergent is only way to get rid of smell.
    Has anyone had this problem?
    Love the swim though 😉

Your blogs are never boring Lesbubbles even if shorter!
Another reason to swim, there are so many! I’m pretty proud of Teagan as I was her teacher when she was in Year 1 at Manly West PS and now we often swim together. She hadn’t done a Bolderdash before her 6km swim and at 13 is the youngest to do it I think. She would also suddenly dive down like a dolphin so I think she is the real Dolphin Whisperer as the next day Silky came!
I warn you in advance there are going to be lots of dolphin photos on tomorrow’s blog!

I am tempted. Need to get a few km’s between myself and Jalna.
Would need earlier start though. How about 5:45 start with option to join 7am Shelly afterwards?
