08/01/2011 – Harbour Adventure :-)

January 8, 20118

Over 84 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
Blue Bottle Mania so nearly 60 of us relocated to the Harbour for a gorgeous swim from Manly Cove to Little Manly and back which is just over 3km. This was the furthest swim for many including Patrick Coleman and Neil Cowin – fantastic effort by everyone – well done !!

18 of us then continued on to do a repeat performance, swimming ~6.5km including Greg Taylor who had a little break on a sandy beach with his 7 year old son, Kai who came along for a large hunk of the first lap, Tim Ettle on a kayak and Ian Paul on a wave ski – thanks guys.

17 swimmers qualified for the 6km summer badge, a couple as repeat performances:
Richard Agius, Brendan Maher, Kelly Johnson, Christy McLean, Linda Goodwin, Nicholas Dowson (also known fondly as ‘Nick the brick’), Thor Slater, Mark Allen, Tony Box, Sandy McIndoe, Anna Alvsdotter, Lori Szambowski, John Bond, Stephen Coulter, Michael Christie, Julie Isbill and Jacob Taylor our youngest qualifier, aged 12 – amazing – well done everyone !

Oh yes and the launch of our new summer badge for our amazing under 10’s:
If you are under 10 years of age and you swim both ways with flippers / one way no flippers you qualify for the B&B under 10 achievers badge !!
I think we’ll have a few little superfish qualifying for this amazing achievement 🙂
Presentation of the under 10 badges will be at the same ceremony as the B&B distance summer badge ceremony – early March 🙂 Reminder badges cost ~$7 each, the 10km badge maybe a little dearer as apparently it’s gonna be ‘special’ !! 🙂

Thank you Julie for everything. My boys (old one and two young ones) love their early morning swim with the B & B crowd. Have a great holiday and see you soon, Kai and Jacob T’s very proud mum. X

So proud to be part of this whole thing, Jules, and can’t imagine a nicer bunch of people either.
Still mulling over the possibility of doing the 10km…

Great conditions in the harbour(and no blueys)and a nice variation to the regular 6km course – thanks to all the swimmers to share the experience with. Well done again to Kai and Jacob.
