Thursdays always seem to be a bit warmer, sunnier and brighter than the other days of the week. The water is often calmer and clearer too. I am SO lucky to have scored the Thursday blog. It’s been almost a year now and really Thursday swims are the best!!!
This is how the day usually begins (on a Thursday).
Just a few swimmers doing the Bolderdash today and it would have been amazing swimming beneath that stunning sky. Be down at 5.50am if you want to do it, there will usually be someone to keep you company.
James P comes down for a 6.30am swim on his birthday. Can a birthday start off any better than being pushed in between 2 gorgeous, bikini clad swimmers for a photo just before you jump in to that sparkling ocean?
There have been comments lately that B&B swimmers generally look or seem at least 10 years younger than they really are. Here Fifi and Capless Dave prove the point!
About 30 on The Drinks Express today!
7am time to go. It’s also Cathie Coleman’s birthday today. Happy Birthday Cathie!
Attracta, the expert fish spotter and friends are looking forward to seeing rays, fish and sharks (friendly ones!)
There’s another birthday coming up too. Dr John’s on Saturday!
The water is cloudy but clear in parts too. Half way to Shelly we swim very close to fish chomping on bits of weed quite close to the surface of the water!
With long flippers and a wetsuit I get to Shelly a bit quicker today.
As is my habit of late, I try and take photos of everyone at Shelly from West to East! It’s so nice to see yourself on the blog! (Remember we love comments at bottom of blog too.)
And it’s a race back to the West of the beach to get a photo of lovely Cathie being sung to and splashed. You really must come and start your birthday off in this way folks. Please don’t be shy about letting us know it’s your birthday. I had to research last years blog to find out it was James and Cathie’s special days! Let Ian know before the swim.
Everyone swims off, but Stephen, Nick, Simon and I go looking for wobbies and other interesting marine creatures. So this is what I saw on the swim back…
After the swim a lot of us go for a coffee or brekkie. If you are new to the swim there are always B&Bers on the back table at Bluewater Cafe, on benches on sea front with takeaway or sitting outside Manly Wine. We are an inclusive, friendly lot so please feel free to join us!
A note from Brad and Lucy (Brucy). If anyone wants to train for The 3 Point Challenge, meet at Surf Club at 6.30am tomorrow! (free and open to all of course!)
B&B’s Annual Fundraising Dinner proudly supported & sponsored by The Steyne Hotel

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.
Bold and Beautiful Swim School
Sarah Anne Evans, B&B’s official Pacific Jules swim coach, has organised a group swim school at Shelley Beach for any willing B&B swimmers who want to improve their style. The cost is $30 and it’s limited to 15 people. During the 90 minute session Sarah Anne and Warren Evans will be covering how to swim with more efficiency, flow and speed! If the water is clear and calm enough they will film each person for feedback after the session via email.
The latest date available for the B&B Swim School is 21st December.
(This will be the last swim school for the year. More next year. Schools on 30 November and 14 December are both full)
If you would like to book in you should call or email Sarah Anne and you will be sent further information, including the date, time and payment details. Phone 0420 923 067 or email info@pacificjules.com.au
If you receive this blog in your email and want to comment (which we bloggers LOVE!) – click on the Date and Title.. and that will take you into the blog itself – you can then comment at the bottom..

Rusty is busily memorising the names of all the care bears in case he gets another question about them at the Skiff Club trivia night. he is an expert on that topic.
