05/10/2014 clocks are ticking

05/10/20147

Please Note with daylight saving the iPhone log app has become confused 🙁 we’re working on it, but in the meantime you can log today’s swim on a PC.

Morning all! I’m so confused today! So, which way did they go?

Is it really 6am?

Or is it 7am?

Whatever time it is / really is / was.
It’s a beautiful morning down here at B&B HQ.

A few chunky messy waves to greet us!

I love how the B&B is a family activity!

What on earth are they?!?! Brendan in his “finest attire” and Peta balancing out the grand final fashion display.

These two are happy they have an iPhone that automatically woke them at the RIGHT time.

Morning ladies! Enjoy your swim!
I call this one ‘Limbering Up’

Pink caps on, here are the latecomers rushing down the ramp. Did they forget to adjust their alarms? </di v>

More last minute adjustments.
“Hmm, big waves today mate”
“Yeah, do you fancy going from Half Way?”
Some wisely took the half way option.

If this next photo was a Facebook one, you could tag yourself in it!

The sun shining the way to on Shelly.

Swimmers had the chance to eat a CAKE or two after braving the waves, all in aid of charity.

Supporting the ride to conquer cancer. Yummy cakes and just what you need after a morning dip.

Sadly still not in the water, so no messy wave shots, but I did spot a few people turning up at 8am, thinking it was 7 and wondering where everyone had gone…

We did hear that unfortunately on the way to swimming this morning our lovely Jane Stevenson was involved in a car accident. One of our swimmers (amongst others) stopped and helped out. Jane is reported to be ok, but our well wishes go to her today. Take care Jane and see you swimming soon.

Monthly Dinner – Special Guest Speaker

Bluewater Restaurant – Tuesday 14 October at 6.30 pm

The next monthly dinner will feature one of our swimmers, Penny Berents, who is a marine biologist and currently a Senior Fellow at the Australian Museum Research Institute. Penny has been swimming and diving in Sydney waters for more than 40 years. Her talk will be about the animals of Cabbage Tree Bay, both those that we see on our swims and the smaller more cryptic beasties that we don’t see but are important in the ecosystems of the Bay. She will also talk generally about the ecology of the area.

Usual deal: Dinner is only $20 a head and includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only) and a little thank you for the staff. Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL: To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please BOOK HERE NOW

Staying safe

The waves were a bit messy today. Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Thankyou Snorkles for your kind words. I am fine though I can’t say the same for my poor little car! Luckily for me, at least 3 other B&B swimmers, all going where I was going, witnessed the whole thing and confirmed I was not at fault. Glad to say the driver of the other car did not seem to be hurt either. SO sorry to miss the cakes!

Jane I can’t believe you didn’t just abandon the car and swim anyway! That’s not like you! 😉

Well the Police wouldn’t let me do that, but I dived into the Harbour when I got home and had a long snorkel – cleared my head a bit!
Thankyou Tim Slessor, Martin Coleman and Ashleigh Mills, all of whom saw the crash and stopped to support me. Then Anna A. appeared, and South African Brian too, and did the same. What a wonderful bunch of people you all are.

Thanks again for another enjoyable blog especially as I’m in Canberra away from the beach.
    Hope you’re ok Jane.

I am glad Jane and all ok. Fabulous blog. I liked the pink flamingo swimmers! This morning I thought I deserved a badge for getting to BB at the right time. What a great idea.
