05/10/2012 – A Cracking Good Start

05/10/201210

169 Bold & Beautiful swimmers enjoy an absolute cracker of a morning !

It’s great to be back.  What a spectacular swim: warm, beautiful and an amazing weekday turnout.  A massive thank you to John K and Lesley for covering the last 3 days so superbly for us.  They have another 4 days for you all to look forward to next weekend too 🙂

No wonder we’re seeing some of our lovely summer faces back again, it’s so gorgeous out there… “Charlie” and no wetsuit either, what a man 🙂

Welcome to all 16 of our new comers today including Jenny with her two daughters Gemma and Sophie

Gerard Dore was one of the 15 swimmers who enjoyed an early lap this morning as he had to rush off to work to get everything ready for our B&B Trivia Night in only 18 more sleeps time !! 🙂

Ged is the General Manager of the Steyne, so please make sure you say a big thank you to him for the sponsorship of this fantastic event for us !!

There was lots of ‘activity’ at Shelly this morning with lots of people doing that little bit extra to get the attention of the camera… It works 🙂

What ever you do save just enough energy for the swim back

When there’s lots of time to R&R

Chat up, whoops I mean with, new friends

Or simply soak up the atmosphere.  Lauren who arrived in Australia from the USA yesterday is going to settle in Manly because she’s found us 🙂  How cool is that !

A photographer from the Daily Telegraph came down to do a photo shoot after the swim this morning, as part of a follow-up story on their television commercial that we feature in, and she commented on what a happy bunch we are 🙂  She might have just been tempted to come and join us for a swim one morning now too.

So… keep an eye out in the Daily Telegraph over the next few days, you may just see an article on us.

If you haven’t seen the commercial yet, you can watch it online here

Despite the top conditions and the number of people swimming this morning only 4 continued on for a double lap.  I’m sure there’ll be more tomorrow.

If anyone’s available next Friday evening, 12th October, our local member, Mike Baird would like to invite you to Manly’s annual community fundraiser in support of the Rainbow Club & the Schizophrenia Fellowship’s Local Sanctuary Respite Centre.  All details can be seen below including how to RSVP.

Dr John is a sly one!!
Not as sly as the “Blog Spreddy Brigade” Sharon has created though, Rainer even getting in on the act. Shameless self promotion… lol
Hoping the weather is as good tomorrow morning…..

Such a cool swim this morning at 6am, then passing the 6.15, 6,20 and 6.30am groups back from Shelley and of course watching the main group at 7.00.
USA Lauren, 8 hours off the plane and swimming yesterday, what a champ!
Jules and Michael great to have you back, leading and blogging, Thanks suntanned Lesley and John K for ensuring everyone started in line at the point last few days.
Lets hope tomorrow brings another lovely swim. 😉

Watch out Rob.. I’m moving up in Sharon’s spreddy!!
Competition is getting tougher. Takes a lot more than just smiling and waving if you want to get the camera’s attention these days.
Better start practicing some tricks.. juggle some gropers, wear a turtle on your head, or simply swim in the nude..
