109 Bold and Beautiful swimmers on this glorious morning, many of whom were eager to practise the swimming tips given by Sarah Ann at the dinner on Tuesday. Hence the title for today’s blog! (Swim tips are in pink!)
There was a Summery feel to the day with the temp forecast at 26C ! For the first time in my blogging history I missed the sunrise over Manly Beach. I just got the 6.30amers bathed in sunshine heading through the surf…
What a morning for the start of Spring!
It’s 6.40am and the 7am swimmers start to arrive…Rob and Lips sign in!
Ian Nicholls, (whose Mum is a swimming legend btw), is giving out free bananas!
Ros below is another legend, She is heading off today to volunteer with Dr Ray Hodgson’s charity, Australians for Womens Health (A4WH), helping give Nepalese women their dignity back and restoring hope to communities in remote parts of Nepal. See you in 4 weeks Ros!
Jenny and Ann E head in to the water. They love the surf, so are glad there are a few waves today!
The early morning sunshine is lighting up everyone’s lovely smiling faces and the water is 18.4 so there are lots of happy faces!
Mr James ‘Hammerhead’ Partington demonstrates the size of the creature he saw at Shelly on Monday!
Michelle, Vicky and Sarah are ready to test out their swimming tips!
And so are Jenny, Krystina and Stephen!
This gent, Ian Forster, swam every single day of Winter and without a wetsuit, 92 days in total. He didn’t get sick once, proof of the health benefits of cold water swimming! Well done Ian!
The waves come as a shock for some, even blogster Nick!
All ready to try and improve our swimming efficiency. One of SA’s tips was to swim tall!
It was more exciting getting to The Point today with a bit of swell but it’s nice to have a change from Lake Manly. Water’s a bit cloudy though so not many fish photos today.
Lesbutt has a great swim stroke. I’m sure her spine is in alignment under that water and she glides through the water smoothly and effortlessly…
The wait at Shelly isn’t as cold now the water and air temp are on the rise.
The fast swimmers are in a hurry and show us how to use our ‘lats’ and raise the elbow!
If you need a hug there’s always a B&B swimmer who’ll oblige…
Sparkles swims efficiently and effortlessly showing us how it’s done, not fighting with the water but gliding through it with ease…
It’s exciting coming in to shore. Jenny and Ann body surf in, catching some great waves.
That’s Ann’s pink cap!
You can see why Ian doesn’t mind putting in so much time behind the scenes with this group, there are benefits!
These amazing swimmers show us how it’s done, the perfect swim stroke that is…(These are notes I took from Sarah Ann’s talk on Tuesday night.) Relax with head down, bum up, make yourself slippery, flow, glide, swim tall, rotate, anchor the water and grip the ‘swiss ball’ and pull through, breathing is just a chin turn…

No fish pics today but I did take a photo of this amazing fish at Shelly on Monday. Jane has identified it as a rainbow wrasse. Isn’t it beautiful?

Nice photo Elaine of the rainbow wrasse.
For the record it was John Forster who swam every day in winter.
