Picture yourself in the northern hemisphere, sun beating down, you are actually in France, probably sipping champagne, and contemplating shopping.

It’s 1946 and on this day in history the bikini goes on sale after debuting during an outdoor fashion show at the Molitor Pool in Paris, France.

Today back at B&B Central in the 4 degrees warm winter sun, it’s a bit of a struggle to find a bikini amongst us.
But there are a few …,,

First there’s Renae returning from the 6:30 swim.

Annie shows us how it’s done at 6:30am too.
Then the 7am bikini’s breakout. Well done ladies!

The men are not left out in this fashion explosion.

In Acapulco, Mexico Hawaiian print swimwear is exploding!

Today, at B&B Central we see the same. Prints are all the rage.

Elaine streaks past on her run before the swim.

Storchie puts his towel to good use.

But before the bikini came Spam! Yes! On this day in history, the Hormel Foods Corporation introduced the luncheon meat in a can! The question on everyone’s lips at the time was “is it really meat?”

Again, on this day in history, in 1295 (around the time Bill McPhee was born) The Scottish were forming alliances against the English, with the French! “Auld Alliance” Became a household term.
That’s ok, because in 1954, the Beeb (bbc) broadcasted its first television news bulletin – smart lot us English folk!

Rusty appears to be hailing the moon this morning, but on closer inspection a drone had swooped in on our swim.

Today, our gorgeous sunrise joins us right on 7am, And then from tomorrow it starts getting lighter in the mornings.

Gloves and double capping is the go this winter.

A quick photo opportunity at Shelly, then let’s go.

Actually …..just because I can, can I make a call out for plastic free July. Sadly I saw way too many plastic coffee cup lids in the water today. I only managed to grab one, a piece of rope and a crisp bag.
If we could a
ll do our bit and buy a keep mug, our fishy friends would love us just that little bit more!

(Proof that at least on one part of my swim I do actually see / swim at The Point)
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Agree with Storchy’s comments – such high standard blogs, thanks all!
Great work, Snorks! I actually swam in HK in a bikini today…. such bliss to swim without a wetsuit or fins and without freezing!
