05/01/2021 – After the Storm

05/01/20216

It’s a tough gig to follow up on the incredible blog that Lainy posted yesterday… so much amazing sea life!!

Let’s give it a go!

A happy new year to the BB swim team. I hope you all had a lovely break and are feeling refreshed and ready to take on 2021. No doubt it’s going to be another year of growth, community and lots and lots of swimming.

So let’s check out what January 5th looked like for the BB club. After some crazy thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, Manly was all sun and blue skies this morning.

Social distancing is still well underway but there is a strong sense of relief that the restrictions are somewhat easing! Check out a few of the below snaps!

Manly was really putting on a show today and as you can see, many people were making the most of it – swimmers and body surfers.

…. despite dangerous currents!!

The source of truth has been a little quiet so my ‘guesstimate’ of today’s temperature is about… 21.3 degrees (give or take)!

A beautiful school of fish by the rocks. Sadly my go-pro stopped working after I got this shot!

Is it just me or is there something awesome about this moment of the swim. A sense of accomplishment, feelings of invigoration, feeling like you’re ready to take on the day and feeling like an absolute superhero.

How do you feel at this moment when you finish the swim (post in the comments)?

Last few shots added by Lainey

Underwater shots of Marije, Sally and Dave and an octopus in his den shot!

That’s it from me today. Have a wonderful day everyone and take care, stay safe and look out for each other 🙂

Andrea

P.S. Here is a quick joke to kick start your Tuesday. Warning – very corny!!

How do swimmers clean themselves?

… they wash up on shore!

Great blog Andrea. When I finish swimming I like to float on my back and hang for a while, without my cap on. It’s not really a swim until you get your hair wet. Last week I heard a man and his child wade past me and say “Don”t wake her up”.
How do I feel at this moment? Not really sure. I’ll check tomorrow.

I am always glad I had a swim. On a day like today I am totally engrossed in how lovely the water beach sky and swim are.

Great sentiments Andrea. I always have an amazing feeling post-swim. The euphoria is definitely extra to other forms of exercise. I love seeing the refreshed, smiling faces of other swimmers too especially when they’ve seen a beautiful marine creature. Our swim is so special!
