04/10/2015 – A load of Horseshit

04/10/201514

Yesterday, Katrina promised Jane a bag of horseshit. Jane is into gardening. Great fertilizer I’m told.

Look at Jane’s happy face. It’s the simple things in life..

Also a load of horseshit, the excuses I heard for showing up late this morning.

For those 130 of us who managed to show up in time, the day started off beautiful as always:

Lucy didnt make it:

Roger’s shock resignation from his Friday blogging position is still reverberating through the group:

Like ex-prime ministers, he knows media attention will soon shift to other topics.

It must be summer – welcome back to all fair-weather swimmers:

New boat in the bay:

At Shelly, the usual scrum for the blog camera:

A bit of stroke correction while we wait for the Let’s Go..

The experienced blogger can spot a photo request from a mile away – no matter how subtle:

The usual gang of doublers and triplers is gathering at the Northern end:

Did I mention a lot of fair-weather swimmers joined us today?

A few gentle waves on the way back:

After never-ending disputes over Triple Crown race results, the new Bold & Beautiful goal posts have finally arrived:

Back on dry land, everyone was glued to Pauline’s transistor radio to follow the final minutes of the match:

That’s what good friends are for – Karen and Katrina consoling Lainey as England is about to leave the Rugby World Cup:

The fine line between hugging and making out..

Speaking of ‘making out’ – a sizable number of regulars didn’t make it out of bed for the 7am swim this morning.

The excuses were cheap..

Eventually, there were enough latecomers for a sizable 8am swim group..

Meanwhile, Pauline kept sharing the Rugby results with the general public, thoroughly enjoying herself..

Jen is only weeks away from completing her Bronze Medallion. Patrol 4 has already called dibs on her:

Stairs of knowledge:

Bill was contemplating a 10am swim. Sometime next week:

There was a strict 9am cut off for blog photos this morning – these guys finished their beer just in time:

That’s it from me today. Enjoy your Sunday. It’s going to be a scorcher.

See you all tomorrow. 7am sharp. No excuses.

Lips x

Special Event – Guest Speaker

The next B&B monthly dinner will be on Tuesday 13th October at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker for the night will be one of our own swimmers, Merrilee Linegar, who is a qualified nutritionist and herbalist. Merrilee’s topic for the night will be “Brain Longevity”. The way you live your life today affects how your brain functions tomorrow. Merrilee will discuss how natural medicine, diet and lifestyle improvements can optimise brain function, prevent memory loss and decrease the risk of Alzheimer’s. While most of us keep our bodies fit by swimming regularly, we often forget about our brains. Don’t miss this one!

The cost of the dinner is only $25 a head and includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only) and a little thank you for the staff. Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential:  To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please BOOK HERE NOW

I have to admit to being one of the no-shows-with-good-intentions today. Despite all my preparations for the swim, I didn’t hear my alarm. I will have to make up for it next weekend. Looked like a magnificent swim.

I have a very good excuse for not turning up on time: nobody told ME it was the start of daylight saving! I swam to Shelly with the 8am mob – do you think Management will notice if I sneak in just a tiny little tick? Gotta get ahead of Anne in the PC again – she crept up on me unawares this morning.

I’d like to offer my sincere condolences to my English friends, but cannot tell fibs on a Sunday. Just the way I was brought up.
I was actually going to be a Minister, but then I was told I had to work Sundays. “No way !” I said, “I’m religious”

Great blog thanks Lips. I really like the shot of the curling gentle wave back at the exit. Brilliant comedy – the juxtaposition of the beautifully spoken Jane and all the profanity.
