04/02/2013 – Cultural Learnings of Australia for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

04/02/201340

We were told to be at Shelly at 7.17am this morning.

Camera crew was waiting for all 95 Bold and Beautiful swimmers.

This could only mean one thing, Borat has come to Australia and is filming his new film about life in Australia and in particular Manly.

Here he is after doing a boulderdash with Little Sarah, Jane, Anne and Pauline.

Borat however was always going to be be overshadowed by our own brand of B&B blog tarts. Our Queen Tart Sharon even dragged herself out of her sick bed when she heard there were cameras.

Joining forces with LSA and Nips, they become one giant unstoppable blog tarting force!

John told us that the producer just called him and he was wanted in hair and makeup at Shelly

The girls had already spent hours getting ready for the camera. GLAM!

Lesley couldnt care less about camera’s, she was more interested in finding the owner of this blog shoe. Im calling this shot “Butt & Boot”

How’s the serenity….

So we made it to shelly…and thought we would have a nice nice picture?

BLOG TARTED!!!

We all queued up for our auditions

Then something happened……the blog tarting started spreading……People just started doing random stuff on the beach to get noticed…..

Jenny literally went mad with enthusiasm!!

Take a picture of our BUMS Robster!! (My pleasure)

Sarah Crunching!

Rainer knew he had to take it to the next level by getting his arm bitten off by a shark and swimming one-armed to Shelly and back

The Hong Kong triad Queen LSA outdid everyone though by standing on her head with NO HANDS!!!!

Snorkels and Emer tried to re-create that lifting scene from Dirty Dancing. FAIL.

John Kelly’s schmoozing got him nowhere

Lori recreated that Halle Berry scene from James Bond to impress the camera crew

And some B&B’ers showed off their body surfing skills. No one noticed.

Congrats to all the competitors who took part in the Cole Classic. Sabine came 2nd, Jane won her age group and Bruce stole a plate from Bluewater!

B&B WA is growing daily! This just in from someone called Julie

Seriously did no one notice my devil outfit this morning????

Keep swimming and smiling,

Robster the Blogster

Shane from the OzMus liked Lesley’s “lobster”. He says:
    “Hi Jane,
Nice find! The animal is Michelaxiopsis australiensis and is sometimes called a ghost shrimp (most others of its kind are translucent white or pink). They are fairly common around Sydney, but are not often seen because they mostly live in deep rock crevices and don’t come out in daylight. Most likely, the recent storms have driven this one out of its dwelling.
    Cheers,
    Shane”
Great that it’s named after Sparkles!
By the way, who took the pic?

Shane’s must be the longest address in the world – and he hasn’t even added “Southern hemisphere, The World, The Galaxy, The Universe”.
And I won’t hog the blog any more.

Dear Leader Simon, don’t forget the boulderdash points for Jane, Anne, Pauline and myself:-))
I don’t think I came close to outdoing AA, but it’s all about the timing and Rob’s a star!
Another super-fun swim! Perhaps the TV crew would like to join us every morning?
Congrats to Jane, Bruce, Sabine and all the other CC stars….

Great seeing the blog tarts out in force today! Amazing what a bit of TV coverage can do to attendance..

    Forgot to add:
Rob – super blog. You nailed it. Razor sharp blog tart focus today!
CC crew – fantastic achievement. Especially Sabine, Jane, and Bruce. Honor swimming with you!
Stephen – thanks for keeping your budgies on this morning. I know it must have been hard to resist!
Hugh – please try and be there 6:45. Pink folder for newbies. Simon / Ian will provide you with pink cap. Stay clear of cougars. Trust me.
Okay. That’s it. Back to Jane..

Isn’t it great to have the normal conditions back with a great, glassy and almost clear swim off the beach.
Amazing the difference one day makes.
    Congrats to the cole classic’s
Sabine??? Some one beat you?? Are you sure they didnt get a ride in on the irb?
Special mention for our early lapper Fi, who made it to the beach in 2nd spot but due to the injury she suffered at the Palmy swim, couldn’t run up the beach and was ran down by two others to finish fourth.
Still second place as far as I’m concerned.
    Back to you Jane 🙂

Well done to those who swam in the Cole Classic, especially those who placed well in their age group.
I was able to watch the event while on board water safety for the surf club. Looked like good swimming conditions with warm water temperature. Pity about one of the marker bouys drifting
further north for part of the race.
A Reminder – the last 10k swim is on Sat 23 Feb. Try and join in for the challenge. Still time to get in some good training.

Swimming the Cole Classic yesterday was fun and catching up with other B&Bers – contragualtions Jane, Bruce, Sabine and everyone else who swam. ?? A team for next year? It was a beautiful, bouncy swim on a lovely day and such a relief after the day before’s weather. To my great surprise I managed to knock 12 minutes 55 seconds off my 2 km time of last year (54mins 55secs) to 42.01 mins. So Michael C. in Perth – it was worth it! Good to see you and Julie’s faces smiling at us from the West.

Wow! So glad I defied the cough this morning for that TV appearance …and many blog tart appearances too. Good work Robster!Although I’m concerned that you have just called me a Queen Tart ?? Seem to be missing the ‘blog’ part in that, or are you trying to tell me something?
Can I have some of what LSA is on ???
Shaun – when you try heckling me from the third row of the crowd could you speak up please – I am wearing ear plugs!
Lips – you are smiling continously throughout the TV appearance ..any reason??
Lainey and Lesley – thanks for taking front row seats – definitely didnt want my pins being broadcasted on TV !!
I must update the blog spreddy

  • "Snorkles" aka Queen Tart

Just checked out the You Tube clips ….Lainey you managed Lesley’s suggestion well!!!

  • Stephen Coulter

    04/02/2013 at 1:36 pm

Good seeing you Snorks! Are you and Rainer going to the same hairdresser or slowly morphing from tarting together so often?

  • Slow Ian

    04/02/2013 at 1:38 pm

OK. Whose bright idea was it to get Steve Jacobs to publicise the B&B. You not only told him the time and place but also no cost and free cap!!! Whoever you are, you can do the attendance for the next three weeks.
If I was there I would have told him B&B was a secret society that meets when there’s a full moon in months with a Z in them. To join you must swim your first swim naked. Not sure how many swimmers that would attract, but I’m sure they would be very interesting people.

    04/02/2013 at 1:44 pm

Triad Queen Sarah definitely got the most spreddy points today, jumping up and down on TV and headstanding with no hands. Go LSAHKTQ!!
Who is Pauline? I thought that was me?? Fi definitely came in 2nd place. What a Trojan!
Great blog again seriously scary Robster!

  • Lesley aka lesbutt

    04/02/2013 at 1:45 pm

Hehe i agree with you Ian – I winced at Steve’s every word!! 😀

Anyone else interested in “how to stand for tv camera’s” please see me before/after swim. Jane we need to talk!!!

  • Lucy

    04/02/2013 at 1:55 pm

Is that true?! Luckily I wasn’t there because I think I would have tackled them pre-finish line…how unsporting!!
    Well done Fi!!
    Over to you again Jane…

  • "Snorkles" aka Queen Tart

    04/02/2013 at 1:58 pm

Yuo are right – Sarah pipped me at the post by scoring one more than me…lots of points all round today..even Emer gained respectable 6 – well done to all one the spreddy.

6 people around me didn’t know what Steve Jacobs name was.
The name Grant Denyer was mentioned a few times.
Note to self and b&b. Steve is channel 9. grant is channel 7. Oops. Hahah

    04/02/2013 at 4:45 pm

DWSS…I suspect it is Karma, for all the times I have passed rivals on the sand.
I have Le Sterch to thank for me even going in it. He was SO encouraging, and even helped me search the bins afterwards for my lost gear. Young Le Sterch was horrified, as was La Sterch. Thanks for the kind words and dumpster diving!!
    Sabine: awesome swim.

    04/02/2013 at 4:46 pm

    Liked the humpback rescue too.
