03/06/2015 – Commando Wednesday ;-)

03/06/201510

Day 3 of Winter 2015 swimming… Although lots of people remembered their jackets, beanies and socks today…quite a few people had forgotten their undies! (We found that out later at Bluewater!!) Happy ‘Commando Wednesday’ folks! It was 6 degrees out and 19 degrees in and apparently felt like 0 degrees (according to my phone app) but we are a tough lot as reported in yesterday’s Manly Daily!  It was sunny, beautiful with clear, warm and slightly bumpy water! You must come Winter swimming!

Helen on the left has just started up a new fitness class. More info bottom of blog.

I had problems loading photos today so not a huge blog or long comments… Remember to get tickets for next Tuesday’s Bluewater dinner with lovely Annie as the star presenter. Tickets are selling out fast book below!

Tayls was back from Bali but is off on a 3 month European trip very soon. He couldn’t resist trying to drown Mike Stacey!

Ann C and Melisse looking amazingly refreshed and energised after their swim!

Just come back from a wonderful holiday in Bali. Experienced great snorkelling around Nusa Lembongan and Amed but…there’s still no swim like ours across Cabbage Tree Bay. (A couple of shots from Bali below.)

Didn’t hear of anyone seeing cuttlefish today but saw this beauty on Sunday morning.

Unfortunately we are down one Giant Cuttlefish after one was illegally fished early Sunday morning. Here is Lee Cooper’s account…

Can people keep an eye out for illegal fisherman around in Cabbage Tree Bay. Came across 2 at 5.45am, one fishing, the other standing by with a large bucket with a cuttlefish in it. Evidently they had caught it before I got there. I asked them to put it back but they did not so I told them I was going to report them. Needless to say they scampered after that with bucket in tow and Cabbage Tree Bay minus one cuttlefish. Please can the bloggers not put location of specific fish/turtle/cuttlefish sighting as these guys were in the exact place that the cuttlefish was reported as being seen the other day. I just wish I had got their number plate but I was only one female against 2 very large men who said they did not know CTB was a no fishing marine park! As if!!!

Guess the foot, clacker and cuttlefish kicker (;-)) below…

Lovely Helen Renner aka ‘Ducky’ has just started up teaching a new fitness class called Piloxing, funnily enough a mixture of pilates and boxing. Give it a go and join one of her classes, info below.

Remember to swim safely – you know the ropes. (But if you don’t, read the stay safe in the surf tips on the B&B website…)

B&B Dinner

The next B&B monthly dinner will be on Tuesday 9th June, 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker for the night will be one of our own swimmers, Annie Sophia – Revive My Style. Do you love clothes or hate them? Do you appreciate when someone makes an effort, but can’t be bothered yourself? Do you think you would be bothered if only you had more money, time and expertise?

Our very own Annie Sophia Larkin understands. After working in television at the Canberra Press Gallery, DJing and modelling in London and solo backpacking around Burma, Annie sees life for what it is and how humans experience it. Come to an entertaining evening where Annie will share with you not only her life’s journey, but also the advantages of knowing how to dress well and how to attract others to you by being uniquely you. With experience in media, fashion and corporate and certification in Personal Styling, Makeup Artistry, Personal Training and Nutrition, Annie will creatively educate, encourage & inspire you. An evening not to be missed.

The cost of the dinner is only $25 a head and includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only) and a little thank you for the staff. Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential!

Yes, it felt like a spa bath in the water this morning compared to the outside temp.
Great photos Lainey and looked like Bali was on-trend May 2015!
Helen is a superstar! Piloxing looks like a lot of fun and I can’t wait to try a session. And can’t wait for next Tuesday dinner..it will be an enjoyable night for everyone.
So sad to hear about the Cuttlefish and Lee Cooper’s account of this awful event 🙁

Tayls trying to drown Michael. Priceless!!
Speaking of foul play. I lost my favourite pink cap yesterday. DWSS, currently in charge of newbie registrations and caps, is trying to charge me $98 for a new cap. I’ll file a complaint with management. This isn’t FIFA!!

Lips, remember, this is a special commemorative nemeses price just for you.
This price has much to do with your PC positioning just behind me and the fact that you can not tick without a cap.
You also forgot the delivery charge!
Everyone else, silicon caps are $15. We only have a few left (3) before a recharge the stock raid on JKs house.
Great work everyone, meeting in a tight ball at the point again today!
Nice blog Lainey. Your Photograghy is nearly as good as …… Doesn’t matter.

I did a bit of research at the department of primary industries web site: (http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/habitat/protecting-habitats/mpa/cabbage-tree-bay-aquatic-reserve).
CTB is a ‘no take’ Aquatic Reserve, which means you are not permitted to fish by any method, harm marine animals or plants, or collect marine organisms whether dead or alive (including empty shells as they provide homes for living organisms). Please remember, you must not harm any organisms, including sea urchins, to feed the fish.
Please report illegal or suspect fishing activities to the Fishers Watch Phone line on 1800 043 536. Alternatively call the Fisheries Office. The closest is in Wollstonecraft (P: 02 8437 4903, M: 0419 185 363).
The fisheries office does not appear to have an emergency response (ie arrival within 20min, lights flashing and guns draw) so if you feel comfortable doing so, collect evidence: license plate number, even better a photograph) to be able to provide to them.
