At least 99 B&B swimmers soaked up today’s beautiful sunrise.
The early swimmers confirmed that it was indeed calm, clear and most importantly for those doing the WWW (Winter Without Wetsuit), warm.
The golden sun did its best to keep up warm while we gathered under the tree and stuff belongings into every spare centimetre along the table.
Sadly, one swimmer’s bag did go missing from under the tree. So if you picked up the wrong bag, please let Ian know.
After yesterday’s challenging waves, the calm, rolling surf was just enough fun with out the panic attack.
Today I ventured to the eastern end of Shelly. The swimmers here are a welcoming lot. They tell me they enjoy watching the antics of the Fast Swimmers, who gather in the middle, and the Blog Tarts inhabiting the western end.
There was a bit of excitement at the Blog Tart end as a photographer with a really big camera turned up!! Blog Tart heaven I would have thought. The photographer was as elusive as a garfish, but I did manage this slightly blurry short at the point.
He is actually doing a photo shoot for the Cancer Council on active lifestyles. Perhaps he should come back on Sunday when we do our Biggest Morning Tea which is the raise money for the Cancer Council. If you can’t make Sunday you can drop a few coins into the fundraising page at B&B Morning Tea.
Our old friend the cuttlefish with the missing tentacles was out and about just of Shelly.
Here is Nick doubling his swim while communing with said cuttlefish.
And this shot is testimony to the ethos of the B&B swim – just do it any way you can.
Relatively quiet under water.
One of the gorgeous Blue Gropers breakfasting off Shelly.
Diamond Fish
And this one is from Stephen Coulter. A cormorant fishing!!
Best finish to the swim was the black forest cake provided by Inez. Very welcome finish to a great swim.
And speaking of photographers, Chris Miller who worked for Getaway is the guest speaker at next Tuesday’s monthly dinner. More details below, but you would be mad to miss this one. It is filling up so book now by clicking here!!
Have a great day and see you tomorrow for day 4 of winter swimming.

Winter Badge season kicked off 1 June.
You know you want one! There are 14 weeks in the winter season. To qualify for the prized Cold & Bold Badge you simply need to swim 20 times within the season ensuring you have swum in a minimum of 7 different weeks. So, attempting to do it all in the first few weeks does not count!!
The Biggest Morning Tea ever
Help B&B regular Miguel Maestre (aka the Crazy Bull) fight cancer this May and June, and make this year’s Biggest Morning Tea the biggest ever! Please share his video or maybe even organise one with as many friends as possible.

Staying safe
We have had seen the return of some serious waves and rips this past week! Were you prepared? Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Such a lovely thoughtful inclusive blog.
Almost makes me feel like I was present.

That poor male cuttlefish!!!
Did you know that the female of the species Sepia mestus (Reaper Cuttlefish) is lovely…And so deadly. Her kiss is fifteen times as poisonous as that of the rattlesnake.
You see her venom is highly neurotoxic, which is to say that it attacks the central nervous system causing intense pain, profuse sweating, difficulty in breathing, loss of consciousness, violent convulsions and, finally…Death.
You know what I think I love the most about the Reaper Cuttlefish is her inborn need to dominate, possess. In fact, immediately after the consummation of her marriage to the smaller and weaker male of the species she kills and eats him…oh, she is delicious…And I hope he was! Such power and dignity…unhampered by sentiment. If I may put forward a
Slice of personal philosophy, I feel that man has ruled this world as a stumbling dimented child-king long enough! And as his empire crumbles, the precious Reaper Cuttlefish shall rise as his most fitting successor!
Don’t worry bout the little sharks tomorrow as you swim across the Bay, watch out for the Reaper Cuttlefish.

Only just saw this blog, didn’t get around to reading it till today. I didn’t make the cake, my husband Alfons did, and I’m glad it was enjoyed.
