You have to
concede it has been another great week – perfect weather, delightful
company and lots of events to celebrate.
Today, as 140
B&B’ers nestled in the sun under the Surf Club awning, a debate was underway – when is it appropriate to don the wetsuit? With the 2013 Winter Badge kicking off on 1 June to wetsuit or not is the difference between two badges or one!!
Paige is adamant
that it is just not needed; Rainer is not so sure.
Taking a straw poll
indicated that for some it is already time! Most
admit it is not about performance – they confess to being a bunch of wimps when it comes to cold water.
Another reason to ‘wetsuit
up’ is protection from the biting, stingy things. A very good reason in my book.
Management find it
a serious subject; not that you would find them in a wetsuit as they proudly display Winter and WWW (Winter Without Wetsuit) Badges.
This bunch of neoprene
free swimmers is making the most of the sun and surf – really it isn’t that
cold!! With the wind now just a breeze,
the warmth of the sun made it a textbook morning for a swim.
There were even a
few waves!!!
The shadows at Shelly make it a quick stop these days! With just enough time to catch your breath, a bit of a hug
. . .or not even notice that everyone is heading back to Manly.
Visibility was not fab
today. Those little waves stirred up the sea bed making the water hazy.
This family of sting rays were playing hide and seek close to shore. There are about five or six of them in a little ditch which would become covered with sand as a wave passed; then they would flap around and reappear on top of the sand, only to repeat the whole process again with the next wave. . .
Such a beautiful day!
Have a great Friday.
Late Breaking news! Baby Maier has arrived and now has
a proper name – Lukas. Expect an update
in tomorrow’s blog
Mary
PS. As a self confessed theatre junkie, can I recommend Dance better at parties playing at Wharf 2. Tickets are limited but it is so worth it. Very funny, a little sad, great performances – what more could you want!!
For the diary . . .
The B&B Dinner which is the
social event of the month is happening on Tuesday! Come along to Bluewater on May 7 for a great
value meal of $20 plus $5 drinks, $5 desserts, no corkage for BYO wines Fun
kicks off at 6.30pm – and don’t be late or you will miss the entrée
goodies. Click here to
register – which is really essential.
Tomorrow (May 4) Guy Leech is doing
another world record attempt! At the
Circuit Record Event, the B&B made a splash (pardon the pun). This one is with a resistance band and the
same deal – the event kicks off 8am so time to swim then break a record. Register here to have
your name in the Guinness Book of Records

As Mary said, “a perfect week”….. such lovely swimming conditions….
Looking forward to seeing pics and meeting you, Lukas aka Baby Maier. You’ve already got a good start in the Pacific Challenge with lots of experience with sharks, waves, rips and stingers! I believe you just missed May 1st by a few hours- probably objected to being another May Triad Queen:-)

Lips & all, shall we all join the 8 a.m. Guiness Book of Records class tomorrow before brekkie? Do we all keep our pink caps on? Sounds like fun if we make it in time….
Talking of pink caps, I highly recommend the thicker ones which can be purchased from Lesley and which are pretty indestructible (even if left in the sun or used on big heads like Jon’s) AND give some warmth.

Shaun, loved your comments on the additions to the new Club plans which came in late in the blog yesterday. I’m sure the ladies will forgive the lack of hot showers when they see my face covering the clock-face:-))
Let me tell you again, however, that an early morning Old & Bold work-out does not give you a B&B tick!!!

Hi Sarah, thank you for your input.
Yes it is so disappointing that the pone downside of the new club “vision” is that we were not able to enlarge the female change room at all but the plus side is the men’s room does have a full refurb.
Regarding old and bold, Sarah, we spoke about this, you must keep those fantasies you have of me running around in rescue outfit under wraps. A wise man once said, “tell her she’s dreamin.”
