03/03/13 – The Bold & Beautiful on Parade

03/03/201329

Whilst other areas of Sydney have to wait once a year for a special day to strip down to their bare minimum and wear their fancy costumes, we are lucky and get to do it …every….day! And look, the weather didn’t disappoint today either.

72 swimmers enjoyed a gorgeously warm 22.6 degrees and were joined by 7 newbies. Welcome to the carnival!

There’s the pre-parade preparations ….some turning up pre make-up and straight from their beds.

Some have joined us straight from the OTHER parade and are still asleep, impressively whilst standing. Meanwhile their partner appears to be gaining tips or nibbling ears?? LSA the 6/10km swims are over now …what’s your next money making deal?

Some still in ecstasy after swimming 10kms yesterday – well done to you all!

Then Ian explains to our newbies “You can wear what you want, as long as it is PINK!”

This couple came all the way from Melbourne to join our fun AND got the memo!

7am arrives and we join the line up …thanks to Stephen C for this next photo.

Before we know it we’ve joined the production at the Point and it’s on our way to Shelly. Sorry folks, no underwater shots today.

Some rest and enjoy the view, whilst others wait patiently for the last ‘floats’ to arrive.

So that the underwater shenanigans can begin!

This guy appeared to be struggling with the ‘how to’ on his camera today – if you see him and he looks confused, please help him out….

As a Birthday treat Julie O shouted out “Let’s Go” but not before we sang Happy Birthday to her!

..and off we did!
NEWS JUST IN ……….while the Blog Tarts were trying their normal tactics to get in as many photos as possible they neglected to notice the SHARK near them!! Check out this photo evidence…….!!!

Stephen Coulter kindly shared his view of today’s swim ….complete with captions!

So thank you for dropping in and joining our parade….aren’t we lucky? We get to do this EVERY day of the year, not just the once!

Great theme, great blog …love that we’re on Parade, having fun, every day of the year!
Such a shame that the doors are closed on 6k and 10k badge wheeler dealing until next year. Plotting with Ted how he will definitely be in the act then:-)

To The Management: Now that I have a 10K and am back on top of Shauny, pls provide me with my rightful seat on the Board.
I will kindly offer to participate in the badge ceremony before my departure on 23rd March, take care of selecting the dates of winter for the next badge (to fit in with my busy Hong Kong schedule, of course) and will kindly assist 007 in selecting the next summer badge dates to fit in with rainbows, glassy waters and maximum blog-tarting:-)

Thanks for reporting on this morning’s parade Snorks! Superb coverage. I’ll petition for a permanent blog day for you as well as a seat on the BnB board. Also endearingly referred to as ‘the old people’s table’ by our friend Corinne..

Lips …..you do realise after your week long break you were officially last today, hence the comment and lonesome pic of you?! Too much fun up in QLD and you’ve lost your speed…well what there was of it anyway!
I look forward to my Board appointment!

Oh my.. I blame Stephen and Annie who tempted me to underwater blog tarting shortly after leaving the point. Clearly, a delay I couldn’t afford!! Unlike them.
In desperate need of stroke correction..

You did a great job Snorks, loved the blog! Think we should make more of an effort for Mardi Gras next year and dress up a bit more! Like your speech bubble photo SC.
Still can’t get over how many of you did the 6 km and 10 km swim yesterday in choppy seas. Well done!

Oh, so I’m a “last float” now, am I?

    03/03/2013 at 4:32 pm

Sarah! What is it with you allways wanting to be “on top” of me???
Do you have a “thing” with authority?
There is at least 3999 other people to worry about. 🙂

    Great job Snorks!!
Us at the ” old people’s ” table were all commenting how much we looked forward to reading it.
We all raced home with our walking frames to get our eyes on the blog before racing off to bingo.
Corinne, please join us. The conversation might be a bit old for you but you might be able to help us across the road when we leave, if thats ok? 🙂

Yes, we haven’t had the embarrassment of setting off first and coming in last for a while. I think the last time was when Tim convinced me to do a striptease mid-ocean for his Sunday bunny-blog…..
Right, no more blog tarting, signing autographs, kissing ladies en route for you…. and I’ll try to keep all the rest of my 10k anecdotes for breakfast…..but, when we start off tomorrow, I must just tell you about the gigantic waves in the hail storm we experienced on lap 43!!

    Great Blog.
Congratulations 6km & 10km swimmers. Fantastic effort in difficult conditions.
Belated congratulations to the Rottnest swimmers.

Many thanks to you also Little Tiger for the refreshments and assistance for the 10k swimmers. Not many people know that you are always there to assist with the long distance swims. Your efforts are always appreciated.

Does this job get a Badge too? I like the sound of that!

Jane – definitely not! This comment relates only to The Lips (who has since owned up to just trying to get in the blog more) he has been away for a week having way too much fun and temporarily forgetting all about us ……LSA and I always take out that trophy!

Bluewater have kindly asked if you would leave your frames in an orderly fashion in the future rather than just parking them where you sit.

Thanks Laney-Loo and I’m sure you could find something in that dress-up wardrobe of yours to wear!
