02/06/14 – Blank Canvas

02/06/201417

A single ripple reaches up beyond the safety of its familiar ocean, peaks and for an instant, it is.  The whole expressed completely in the one moment of perfection.

Returning to the depths, never to re-appear in the same form.  An echo in the sun fuelled waves telling a tale to distant shores.  A half told story stored in the storms, dancing with raindrops.

In another instant another place, a single ripple still part of the whole, remembers and stretches out toward the light.  The ripples we create today are the waves we catch tomorrow.

And today’s malfunctioning camera is tomorrow’s landfill…  This morning’s photos were all blurry, so I have painted you some pictures, and a sketch… You’ll get the idea.

A grey morning, a few ‘ripples’ (…90 regular and 1 newbie to be exact).  The sun threw back the covers and gave us a beaming good morning, just as the 7am group pushed out through a strong rolling swell.

Second day of winter and people are already “gettin jiggy wid it” for the winter without wetsuits badge.   Water temp was 20.6 degrees.  Here are a couple of the team from the ‘Bear Cottage Big Swim’ (see below for details).

Some have already succumbed to the brisk air temp, with wetsuits and cuddles.

Chris stopped long enough for this hasty watercolour of the Clouds over the Bay. The rolling swell gentle beyond The Point whilst providing powerful sets to surf into Manly Beach.

Back on dry land and breaking out the crayola’s for a “Yellow and red pole”.  Both beach and surf, fairly quite this morning.

Regards,
Andrew ‘Magichands‘ Maher.

Bear Cottage Big Swim!!!
To help Bear Cottage continue its essential work, on the 21st of June, 2014, 9 swimmers from the Bold & Beautiful swim group will each be attempting to swim the 14.2 km between two of Sydney’s most iconic beaches – Manly and Bondi.

The swim will mark the culmination of months of committed training and planning, countless hours spent in the pool and ocean. On the day itself, each swimmer will face the hazards of fatigue, hypothermia, strong swells, jellyfish, and the ever present threat of sharks.

Please give generously so that we can all make a contribution to the lives of Bear Cottage children…

“The ripples we create today are the waves we catch tomorrow.”
You make Sunday blog look very, very lowbrow Mr. Magic Hands. And I wouldn’t want to be the Tuesday blogger..
    Great swim! Fun waves!

Speaking on behalf of the more Elite Super 6.30 DrinkExpress Group:
I let the side down this morning being the first ever Expressor to go in from Half Way! Even with me RUNNING around to half way / swimming to Shelly ..they still ALL beat me!
But on the plus side, having the extra half an hour each morning has been put to good use: I’ve been able to knit my cats some small sweaters and mittens!

Probably too late for you to read this Lesbubbles (considering you’re now going to bed extra early to be up in time for the Drinks Express) – but just wanted to say I’m so impressed. Thanks for posting.

Never fear, Lb, will soon be back in every group, giving everyone face by swimming at my usual ‘relaxed’ pace. You’ll feel like a speedo again in no time:-) xx
