02/02/2021 – Just get past the seaweed

02/02/20212

Sometimes you need to walk through a little discomfort to get to the good part. Today was just that with the seaweed ashore.

Before I start, todays’ photo credit goes the amazing Elaine who captured some incredible sea life. It still amazes me that we swim in this amazing body of water every morning. Today the water was flat, clear (once you got past the seaweed) and the sea life was abundant… some were even lucky enough to see a turtle! We are honestly so lucky to swim in such an incredible part of the world.

FUN FACT: Wobbegongs have patterns like carpet. They have strong jaws and can consume their prey as big as their own size. The word ‘wobbegong’ comes from the language of Australian Aboriginals and it means ‘shaggy beard’. There are small tentacles along the mouth of wobbegongs.

It’s nothing but big smiles after a swim!

FUN FACT: In biology, any group of fish that stay together for social reasons are shoaling, and if the group is swimming in the same direction in a coordinated manner, they are schooling. In common usage, the terms are sometimes used rather loosely

FUN FACT: Most of the world’s oxygen, about 70%, comes from seaweeds and algae. And Seaweed is one of the biggest carbon sequesters on our planet. Scientists believe Seaweed can be a big part of the climate change solution.

FUN FACT: Eastern blue gropers can grow up to be 1.2 meters!!

Have a wonderful day!

The Cole Classic and Sun Run are back for 2021!
This year, if you’re taking part in the event, you can choose to fund raise for Royal Far West, our local charity, which is supported by Bold and the Beautiful throughout the year. By choosing Royal Far West, you’ll be helping to raise funds to help vulnerable country kids access the specialist developmental and mental healthcare services they urgently need.

If running is more your thing, you can also fund raise for Royal Far West in the 10km Sun Run from Manly to Dee Why on Saturday 6 February.
However you choose to fund raise, we’d love to have your support!
