01/12/2012 – Welcome to N*ked Saturday!

01/12/201228

181 swimmers showed up when they heard I was doing the blog again.

(*Please keep an eye out for random “facts” throughout the blog…only if you are really smart will you find them!)

So, initially the plan was to go with N@ked  Mondays, but Looks like Statler and Waldorf didnt get the memo! They also brought a friend with them.

I guess now that John’s upper lip is naked, he thought he would go the full monty!

So, apart from *cough* noodity (sic) it seems one of the other big stories of the day was that it is the first day of summer. Unfortunately no one told the ocean and it was a bit of fun getting out to the point

Sometimes it helps if you partner up, or are just a bit Cuckoo!

Once we got to Shelly, people were so proud of themselves they hugged.

Or did a celebratory handstand!

And due to the lack of dolphins, Shaun thought he would try to imitate one

And it caught on! (Or is that a plane?)

The ‘Official’ Long distance Summer Badge swims started today with the 6km and the 10km swim, both starting at 7am with the regular 7am swim. It’s a bit early for us to report on how it went, as we are doing the blog as they are still swimming, so expect an update from AA (Anna Alvsdotter, not Alcoholics Anonymous) tomorrow!

10 set off for the 6km

7 for the 10km

We had 12 newbies! WELCOME!

4 Boulderdashians

12 did the Double Dip!

So N*ked Saturday started well. See you for N*ked Monday!

Rob

Robbie, I don’t think any of your “facts” are exactly factual, but here is an actual fact – today we had a famous Australian Olympic medallist swimming with us. Who was it?

You got me Ian! One or two may possibly be slightly less than factual….well done for being the first one to hover over the photos. 😉
Oh and thanks to Stephen for a couple of todays photos too.

    Robbie Guinness Byrne,
Prior to Manly being named by the famous Chinese dancer, the original adverb name was going to be Brucely – later given to Chinese actor with Chinese spelling of Bruce Lee. There is still some debate but apparently Bruce Baird already had claimed Brucely as he waltzed around looking brucely often.
More recently claims have been made on the term by the B&B’s first couple Brad and Lucy – collectively known as Bruce – derived from this, brucely can be used to describe any couple that are never more than 30 cm apart or without anyone else ever between them, if you saw a couple riding bikes one handed while holding their other hands you could say – “what a brucely couple” and everyone in Manly would know you were referring to Brad and Lucy.

By the way. Those who are really observant will notice that someone has a slightly larger modesty box than someone else.

The’Magnificent Seven’successfully completed the 10km Challenge. The water conditions in the harbour were excellent although the sun was a bit reluctant to make conditions warmer.
Well done to all swimmers, especially the first timers.
Thanks Mark and also Maureen who met us at Quarantine
beach with much appreciated food and drink.

    Re Underwater Shot No. 3 – it isn’t a plane, it’s a bird, it’s Su’paWoman.
As for the upsidedown Loon! – are you knocking Su’paWoman or Lauren doing a magnificent underwter handstand? Actually we were all a bit upsidedown underwater.
It was a Very Funny Blog – any chance of N@kedness on Sunday or is the answer obviously, Never…

Hey Jules, – Im now “Not a very good swimmer who swam 10K” haha
A big thank you to Maurine for helping us at 1/2 way. I did not know that Angels have red hair.
Great work and Thank you Mark, you did a great job leading us. I noticed the attention to everyone’s well being along the way.
Thank you John for your quiet encoragement. You are a true gentleman.
Thank you Paige for your high fives and energy.
Thank you Francois and Chris. great swimming with you both. Chris, I couldnt keep up with you even when you swam with one hand out of the water and doing breast stroke. haha
Thank you all for being patient and waiting for me at every stop including you Billy who did so much shaking, I now know you are a mover and shaker. haaha, I really appreciate it.
Congratulations to the other super 7’s. and the 6 Kers as well.
Thank you to the B and B for paving the way and making such a thing possible. I have tested my limits and for now, I found out what they were. haaha
My shoulders were screaming at me, “What are you doing”
I did see a big old stingray and lots of Blue Gropers.
At one stage I thought I was hallucinating when I saw the face of Chris N coming up from the depths at me. Turns out he was – must have swum down 15ft to come at me from that angle. haaha
    All you guys ROCK.

Well done distance swimmers. The 10km swimmers looked great coming out @ Quarantine, such a high level of fitness.
Had heaps of fun today, nice to take part in the 10km without having to actually swim it.

  • One half of Brucy

    01/12/2012 at 9:42 pm

Oh you’re so sweet Fifi!! But the finish line was a very different story, ugh!!
In unrelated news, Dr John and his lovely posse at Manly Hospital have driven a wedge between Brucy. One half of Brucy has a sexy new pair of crutches making it v difficult to implement the 30cm rule. Gasp!!
Will Statler and Waldorf be releasing a nude calendar? If so, how can we pre-order?
    Love the blog, Rob!!
