01/09/2012 – Channeling 1000 Pink Caps

01/09/20124

96 Bold & Beautiful swimmers

~8 swimmers enjoyed an early dawn swim, some up to Queensie and some into Shelly, all back in time to form a human archway for Collie to run through as he took he dive towards France.  Collie is heading off on Wednesday to Dover, to climatise for a couple of days before he takes on his solo English Channel Crossing !!

These great action shots are courtesy of James

These massive endurance swims are as much a mental as physical challenge and Collie has said to get him through he will be channeling 1000 pink caps 🙂  Collie is going to envision pink caps all around him the whole way, as no matter when and where he swims there’s always a pink capped B&B swimmer nearby.  GOOD LUCK COLLIE, all 3130 of us (and more) will be there with you in spirit, stroke for stroke, all the way to France 🙂

For a little extra support our thoughtful and creative Wall of Thought; Annette, Maureen and Nicolee have made Collie these lovely beer coasters which he can keep in his mind the whole way across and use to celebrate at the end of his mammoth feat.

James will be over there with him videoing and tweeting the whole way, to follow his every stroke please make note of these links below.

Spring has definitely sprung, it’s a superb day and the water temperature has risen too 😉

The sun rises early enough now that it shines on us the whole way across the bay, and is well above the headland in time to comfort us as we wait at Shelly

before we all swim back together 🙂

Vicki is not only the sponsor of every single one of our famous hot pink caps, she is also our wardrobe queen… with the latest in how to ensure your toes don’t get cold… 🙂

There’s still lots of plankton around, but honestly they don’t sting.  They look beautiful, give you extra grip in the water and we can only but hope they attract the whales 🙂

8 swimmers also continued on for a double lap, with Mark doing all 3, but did they get to see this gorgeous tiny fish hovering off the point.  I hope so, it was very very cute 🙂

Good luck to all our Maui Channel Swimmers in their 16km crossing TODAY !!  They each have a B&B coaster, courtesy of Annette, Maureen and Nicolee too, to will them on to the finish 🙂

They have been replicating their 1500m morning B&B swim out there, but with the addition of a buoy at the point to wait at 😉  They then swim around a headland to the next beach – stop, have a chat and return.  They are joined every morning by these beautiful giant turtles !

Congratulations to Denise who successfully completed a challenging crossing of the Dardanelles on Thursday !!  Denise also bumped into fellow B&B swimmer, Terry Stewart (who she’d never met before) whilst she was there.  Love it 🙂

A reminder to please book in for our Winter Badge Ceremony at Whitewater for a $10 brekkie straight after the swim on Sunday 9th Sept !  Everyone is welcome… Bookings are essential though for catering purposes, so please book here asap, thank you.

Bring your Dad and/or your children down to join in a Father’s Day swim with you tomorrow 🙂

Fabulous conditions today and more of the same tomorrow. A tiny bit chillier than expected but the temp of the water has definitely risen!
