The washing machine conditions are persisting, with the spin cycle still going. 119 swimmers were rewarded with spectacular morning sunlight to compensate for the not quite so hygienic water conditions. Since we are an inclusive rather than elitist mob, we are privileged to be blessed with degrees of challenge to our daily exercise routine.

About half of us went out in the strong rip through the surf at the main beach, receiving a gratis seaweed exfoliation deluxe in return for their effort. Here’s Adam Moore looking cheerful in anticipation of this beauty treatment.

A few swam early, greeting us with their contagious smiles. Thanks Greg and John.

The rest of us enjoyed a soul nurturing walk around the point along one of the most spectacular walkways in the world.

“Oh my lordy, will they make it..? Oh well, a few less of us to compete for drinking space at Manly Wine tonight”, Izzy was overheard saying to Jalna and Jenny M.

Judy and John were also amongst the drama thirsty onlookers hoping for something spectacular to talk about at future dinner parties.

While Moshe and Dave were happy as long as their hunky figures were captured on camera.

If they’re lucky, they’ll feature in today’s Sprout photoblog. Here’s the friendly and super talented Murray Fraser who supplies the beach community with stunning photography.

Well, would you know. Moshe and Dave did make it into the Sprout Daily. For more of Murray’s photos, go to http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=0e5d6d32a59bc84eb7f5ce1f9&id=b8d801b2b2&e=d2c120688a

And what is everyone looking at? Possibly watching in absolute awe and amazement as Superwaterman, aka Drinky, aka Andrew Drinkwater (aha! drinking the seawater – therein lies the secret to his super aqua power), seemingly without any difficulty swim against the strong rip into the beach as everyone else was shooting straight out in the other direction.

The halfway option provided a more meditative experience.

Toni and her equally gorgeous friend flashing their pearlers.

And Jenny K explains just how big something was. I think she’s talking about her recent camel riding experience in India. Ask her about it, it’s like she’s on a commission for camel tours in the entire Asian region. Lesley Coulter couldn’t get enough of Jenny’s tall tales.

Ted is re-enacting the From Here to Eternity scene again, now without Deborah Kerr. This version has Jenny K’s pointed finger in it instead. I think it works just as well, don’t you?

The love fest at Shelly Beach was as full of love and laughter as any other morning. You people are all five star folks.

(spot Lesley, aka the Lens Louse peeking at the camera from behind the Dutch lamp post)

Watch this colourful trio. I just love the fact I captured them totally unawares in their own little world of deep and meaningful thought.

More bold and beautiful peeps.

(where’s Lesley now? Oh, there she is.)

Richard Agius was delighted to find this unusual seaflower that had been ripped off the seafloor and landed amongst the seaweed on the beach. Like all good beach users and carers for our beloved Aquatic Reserve, he threw it back into the No Take Reserve where it will be nurturing the millions of essential creatures residing in the different layers of the shore.

Some B&B members are also bona fide Surf Lifesavers, and take it upon themselves to patrol the beach even when it is void of tourists. Time for inspection of the beach after the cyclonic storm washed up a variety of curious visitors.

There was a blog tart blob.

And a daytripper from Bondi.

Yep, today saw more of the cr*p we’ve become accustomed to in the last few days. As our eloquent Women’s Changing Room Philosopher, aka Lori S, put it yesterday as we swam through patches of smelly foam underneith the most expensive real estate in Manly; “I adore swimming in affluent effluent, I can’t get enough of posh poo really. It’s good sh*t, man”. No really, she actually did says all that, and I don’t think she was holding back either.
The beach patrolling ladies took note of the prevailing conditions, stalked some unsuspecting beach goers, and gave it all the thumbs up. All captured on camera below by Stephen Coulter.

That seaweed was heinous!
I managed to get out in the surf, but I was NOT wanting to duck dive face first into that solid kelp, so I decided to swim back with the 7 am crew rather than face it a second time!
Drinks you are a brave soul indeedy.

There was a bright Spark called Michelly
Who swam every day into Shelly.
She said “If you’re nimble,
You won’t hit a jimble,
But it’s impossible to prevent those durn sea lice getting down inside your cossie and biting your belly”.

Robin will be the swim captain for the 6 km tomorrow. Vanessa and myself may also participate if conditions allow. We may just do the manly-shelly leg multiple times to get to 6 km. Harbour will be choppy as there will be a southerly, so that may not be an option.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT – especially for blog tarts
On Monday, Channel 9 will be filming at Shelly Beach and they want us there by 7.12 am (not sure why it couldn’t be 7.13). So, can you all be there early on Monday. John Kelly will be giving the “let’s go” at 6-50 am at the point, which means you will need to start swimming at 6-45 am. Shazza, here is your big chance. We would like as many as possible to be there, but someone will hang around until 7.00 am to pick up those who turn up late.

I think it was Lord Byron who said, “when the sea weed, the swimming’s s**t!”

Folks, as soon as I’d posted today’s blog, I discovered a spelling mistake, or should I call it a typo..?
To my dispair I was unable to get to the computer straight away to correct it, but now it’s done.
I am severely embarrassed the typo slipped through. Could there be anything worse in life? Right-oh, yes I agree, there could be a few things worse.

I’m in!!
Never mind Shazza. She’s down with a bad cough (she says) and her blog tarting efforts have been less than impressive since returning from the UK.
Little Sarah – considering you’ve been out of training for a while, I suggest we leave around 6:00. Should get us there by 7:10. Just enough time to fix our hair!

Ha, ha! Just arrived in Manly – almost midnight!
Let’s see – regular jet-lagged crawl tomorrow, harbour herding duties on Sunday and 6.00 on Mon in time for the TV – let’s hope it’s sunny enough to go pink:) Should be trained up for a B’crawl by Tues:)
