75 Bold and Beautiful Swimmers!!
Lovely in the sky but…..

Great big waves of at LEAST 20 metres crashing onto the beach…they look so small in the photo though 😀

So the majority of us headed to half way – and a few id..brave ones ventured through the massive swell!! (and really high tide!)

Lining up to go in – all seemed well…everyone smiling and calm…we should have realised what was coming from the Sunami-like flattened tide going out! GULP!!

THEN….

Sunami like tide….
It hit us! BIG pounding waves….

After a rolling all over the place swim – but enough to take your mind off the cold that’s for sure!! We all made it to Shelly – although I heard that some who went in from the beach said it took so long to get through it all they didn’t make it to Shelly and just turned back …some to half way and some back to the beach… The swell at Shelly had us rolling around too!

Then back at half way!! In 18 months of swimming that was the hardest I have found it getting back in – I really enjoyed it though…the waves taking us in then back out – really far – then back in again…

Then out of the mist – 2 hero’s appeared….. Ian and Nick!

“How to help Jane out at Half Way”
Hold and pull… Push…yank…

If all else fails grab her on the bum! Works everytime 😀

Much to Izzy’s delight…Tall, dark, handsome strangers appeared from nowhere to help her…

The swim was a lot of fun as always….see you tomorrow!!!
I saw this on Yahoo this morning Whaley?? I hope it’s not our whale?? (A humpback??)

That’s a great shot of Julie’s Tattoo from the Jimble sting. [About 8th Photo down]. I’m quite jealous! I’d love to have a sympathy generator like that, but they never sting me properly. I don’t think they like me – which is surprising really?

Sorry about the duplication, I really didn’t do that. The net is playing up I think.

Well, that’s one way of getting one’s pic into the blog – and gives the guys a chance to show off their heroics (Thanks for the help guys – what would we do without you!)

Thanks Jane 🙂 ….for once I needed helping out too …normally no probs getting out…but I could have stayed in all day bobbing about it was fun.
Forgot to blog that Ian Mcg. Had a close encounter with a shark on way to queensie…a baby port jackson… Swimming up near the surface… So little was in his palm… Good luck little fella…i wonder if it was a result of the shagging sharks we saw?

Shame about the whale I know. I suppose after a lifetime swimming up and down the east coast and leaping into the air to impress lady whales, he’d just figured he’d done it all and was a bit shagged. Nice place to hang up your flippers and call it a day I reckon – when my time comes I wouldn’t mind ending up in Newport ocean pool.
The mini-shark was sensational Lesley, Iain ducked down and re-surfaced with this mad grin on his face, and there in his hand was this tiny wee thing with brown and white patches, if we hadn’t been 500m off North Steyne in 10-ft swell with the Bombie raging down on us, I would’ve sworn he was petting a hamster. PJs are obviously very tame creatures – the only vegetarian shark I wonder?
